What is counseling?

How long will therapy take?

Do you accept insurance?

How do you typically work with clients?

What type of clients do you serve?

What client age do you serve?

It is a process in which people confidentially share issues and concerns with their therapist. It is a collaborative effort between a client and therapist to help in various ways, such as to identify issues, set and implement goals, and work through internal misalignment between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

There is no set timetable for the length of therapy. Each person's therapeutic process is unique. In general, I encourage my clients, especially those new to therapy, to commit to a month of weekly sessions, so a strong working relationship can develop, and they can begin to resolve issues and reach counseling goals.

Yes, I am credentialed with several insurance plans. If I am one of your network providers, I will bill your insurance company for the day's therapy session, along with collecting a co-pay or a deductible amount, if appropriate, from you. If I am out of network with your insurance carrier, I can give you a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network documentation.

I am an active listener, using different interventions to help you openly express how you are thinking, behaving, and feeling about your concerns. I will listen without judgment, provide empathy, and may encourage you to approach your issues from a different perspective or to think about your concerns in new ways.

I welcome persons of various backgrounds for psychotherapy, including persons of diverse race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation.

I work with young adults of high school age through those in retirement exploring and planning for their next stage of life.
